Conductivity sensors from Aanderaa are compact, fully integrated sensors for measuring the electrical conductivity of seawater. Conductivity is a key parameter for in-situ measurements of several fundamental physical properties of seawater.
For seawater, the ability to conduct electrical current is mostly dependent on temperature and the amount of inorganic dissolved solids. Salinity is defined as the concentration of dissolved solids. This means that, together with temperature and depth information, a good estimate of the salinity may be determined. By using the inductive principle, stable measurement can be obtained without utilizing electrodes that are easily fouled and may wear out in the field.

*Select 4019 for RDCP use unless you want to use the temperature output. Conductivity Sensor 4019 uses an internal bus connection with full resolution (16bit). Conductivity Sensor 3919 uses SR-10 with 10 bit resolution. To obtain the same resolution with a 3919 sensor the range can be zoomed using a set-up and configuration cable (RS-232). The temperature sensor integrated in the 3919 may be used for internal calculation in the RDCP by using a patch cable for 2 channels. The 4019 only outputs Conductivity.
** Please note: All further improvement of software and calibration will be prioritized on new protocol. Limitations in the older electronic design may prevent us from including future improvements in the "old" sensor. If possible select a sensor from the second generation 4319.
